Thank God we went to war for oil - otherwise gas would be expensive!

So, gas prices are going up.

Did anyone notice that? I noticed. They’re definitely going up. In case you think it’s bold of me to make such a definitive statement without attributing it to someone, don’t worry - I conducted a study.

The study consisted of me buying gas every few days and discovering, each time I did so, that it was more expensive than the previous time (that’s science). Also, I looked at the signs with the gas prices on them. And the numbers on the signs are higher now than they used to be. Thus I have empirical evidence of the increase in gas prices and should henceforth not be questioned.

Now that we have established that gas prices are, in fact, going up, we should discuss what to do about it.

You have to admit that it poses a problem – although admittedly only to those of us who buy gas. The rest of you have your own problems to deal with.

I thought about walking to work, but since it’s a half-hour drive, that didn’t seem like the voice of wisdom. I thought about just not going to work at all (and it seemed like a really good idea for a moment) but realized just in time that there’s a good chance they’ll stop paying me if I do that – which explains why I’ve been going for so long to begin with.

So, at this point in the commentary, it would be appropriate to introduce some stunningly brilliant solution to our problem. But what for? You’ve all got the forwarded emails. So this is my suggestion.

Buy a smaller car.

No need to thank me for my advice (but if you do want to thank me I accept PayPal). Just be glad you know me. And be glad I have nothing better to do at work than spout nonsense to keep you semi-entertained.

The nearest gas station to my apartment here in Orlando has regular gas for $2.89, mid-grade for $2.94, and premium for $2.99. At this point I'm glad that my truck is still in Seattle where I don't have to pay $50 per week to drive it everyday. My job is currently setup so that I can take the bus for free from where I am to wherever I need to go in a timely manner. I’ve looked into getting a small car that gets better than the 16mpg my S10 averages, but most of the savings in gas would end up paying to insure another vehicle.
Our problem isn't that we don't have enough oil; the problem is that we haven't built any oil refineries in decades and they are operating around 130% of designed capacity. We can drill as many new wells as we want but we’re going to have a pinch on gas supplies until they either build some new refineries or build a cheap, production model car that burns crude.

My dear friend Sarah has come up with an even better solution than mine. this is no surprise, it happens quite often. Eventually I'm going to have to do something about it. I HATE being one-upped. (I mean take her out of course. What did you think I meant? get smarter? who has time for that?)

She says we should stop complaining about gas prices, because if you do the math (which I don't) it is actually more expensive to drink coffee or bottled water than to buy gas.

Pshhh... her and her perspective.

I've noticed that, which I why I don't buy either. If I don't want normal water I'll boil it then run it through a Brita filter which will filter twice my gas tank's volume for less than the price of a gallon of gas. You could also convert a normal car engine to burn hydrogen gas for a few thousand dollars, according to the people @ www.unitednuclear.com

I lied, its more like $10K and the site is www.switch2hydrogen.com; but still something I'm looking into

The wondeful thing about high oil prices is that it funds all kinds of oil exploraton. At present, we have located more oil than we have ever had before.

Another solution to our energy proplems is to replace our oil power plants with new green power plants that burn environmentalists. Instead of whining they could volunteer to actually help provide power.

Being British I could furnish you with many simalar stories, especially with our backwards education system. It is a very political system, very worrying.

They did start paying truants to stay at school, and I know first hand that at nursery (kindergarten) the regulations are that you cannot say a child is being 'naughty' to the child. There is a long list of silly rules from OFSTED handed down, and it is also TRUE that the song 'Bah bah black sheep' has been changed so not to offend ethnic minorities (how patronising to them). I did not believe that story when I first heard it, but my source is very good and I have had it corroberated by others.

The UK is a funny place to live at the moment, well not very funny to be honest.

Interesting blog, I will bookmark it on my blog www.theguvnor.net (The Guvnor Times) links page.

Now I am posting in the right section.

Great article!

The war for oil argument is probably the weakest of all anti-war statements I have heard. For one, it was the argument used in the first Gulf War when we liberated Kuwait. What went wrong that time? The Bush family are so keen on oil prices going down, but everytime they invade Iraq fuel prices just seem to rise.

Worse still, considering how stupid Bush jnr is. Doesnt this make snr even more stupid (they will probably be calling for Bush Snr to be impeached next). Ah the logic to it all, Bush and Blair swimming in Iraqi oil and the good people of the USA and Britain are paying more than ever before for fuel.

In fairness it is good to see that so much is being done for the environment with the left recycling old anti-war arguments. Because everybody knows we went to war for oil. I remember the statements now by Blair in the House Of Commons when he said 'September 11th did not really happen, it is all a Zionist conspirecy. We the British stand shoulder to shoulder with the Americans in going to Iraq and clearing it of oil, so we in the United States and in Britain can pay even more money to fill up cars, buses and trucks'.

This as I remember clearly from the history of the left made it difficult for 'Dorothy' Sheehan and George (the cowardly lion) Galloway, The Tin Man and co to get to see the wonderful Saddam of Iraq. Who was so kind and caring to Kurds and Shi'ites.

Its all coming back to me now.....

Infact there is no such person as Osama Bin Laden, he is just made up by the zionists to cover the fact that 'the jews did it', errm even though it supposedly did not happen.

Maybe if we ask our government nicely they will stop putting bombs into buildings in New York and Washington DC and Blair will stop blowing up tubes and busses in London and giving the muslims a bad name.

Oh what fun! While I am on with re-writing history, maybe I should go onto world war 2. Remember that? You know, when 6 million muslims were sent to the gas chambers. Oh how quickly we forget. In Britain (I will even get you the relevent links, because what I am about to say sounds nearly as unbelievable as the above) The Muslim Council Of Britain (MCB), paid for by British tax payers, is campaigning for the Holocaust Memorial day to be scrapped and replaced by 'something that includes all opressed people'. Couldnt they just choose another day?

Anyway, I now feel I must copy and paste this and re-write it and post it on my blog.
